Brewery Tours & Events
Interested in visiting Hobsons? We have introduced a calendar of events at the brewery, providing tours, beer tasting and welcoming a range of local producers to cook, match and get creative with ours beers!
If you are an independent group (12-24 people) interested in visiting the brewery for a tour and beer tasting, we offer Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoon slots - subject to availability, advanced booking required. Please send us an email for further information - click here.
Aimed at couples and small groups (maximum of 8 people) the 'brewery night' includes a guided tour of the brewery, beer tasting and a beer infused hot buffet. You will be given a behind the scenes tour of the brewery showing you the full production process from the preparation and provenance of the raw ingredients, mash tun, fermenting tanks, cellar and insight into our sustainable technologies. Please note the brewery tour does involve walking around the operational site which includes narrow steps and uneven surfaces which unfortunately would limit those in a wheelchair and those who have mobility issues. Beer tasting will take place in the Tasting Room followed by food prepared by the incredible brothers from CSONS in Shrewsbury, which is fast becoming the counties top foodie eating destination. CSONS are proud to describe their food as different; "We use the best #LocallySourced produce and treat it with the respect it deserves by creating simple, unpretentious, #GloballyInspired and exciting dishes that shout about the ingredients, reflect the seasons and are full of flavour."
Sample menu - Postman's Knock Asian style Pork belly with rice salad. Rare Beef, salsa verde with green salad & Old Henry vinaigrette. Beetroot, Goats cheese with lentil and nut salad dressed with Old Henry vinaigrette.
COST: Cost for the evening is £25.00 per person, pre booking only.
VENUE: Hobsons Brewery, Newhouse Farm, Tenbury Road, Cleobury Mortimer, DY14 8RD.
CAR PARKING: We have a car park as you enter the site and an area behind the Tasting Room.
TIMES: Arrive at 7:00pm for the brewery tour, the Brewery Nights finish around 10pm.

Our popular foodie nights are special themed evenings where we invite a local producer or food business to cook a bespoke menu involving beer as an ingredient plus cooking demonstrations and beer matching. Timings and costs are as per our Brewery nights above, If you want to join us on the tour please arrive by 7pm. Please also note that due to the intimate environment of the tasting room we cannot accept single bookings of more than 8 people at our Foodie Nights. If you would like to bring a larger group please contact us for information on private events.
2017 DATES FOR FOODIE NIGHTS
Thursday 26th January 2017 – Cheese night with the multi award winning Ludlow Food Centre – Meet Paul, Cheese Maker at Ludlow Food Centre as we pair different cheeses with Hobsons beers and Oldfields Ciders followed by a cheese inspired meal.
Thursday 23rd February 2017 – Italian Night with La Triestina – Sample some real Italian cooking with the girls from Shropshire based La Triestina, importers of the finest Italian produce from the Fruili Venezia region.
Thursday 2nd March 2017 – Sea Shanty Singers Join us for a jolly night of rhythmic sea shanties performed by Hobsons Choice, Europe's Most Inland Sea Shanty Group who happen to be sponsored by Hobsons! The evening will also feature a very apt Fish Pie by The Fish House in Ludlow.
Thursday 9th March 2017 – Pie night with Malc and Sandra. A gastronomic night celebrating the great British pie during National Pie Week. Malcolm works part time at Hobsons, but he and his wife Sandra are also pretty good in the kitchen having put the Fighting Cocks in Stottesdon firmly on the Shropshire food map. They have now retired from the Pub, so we're lucky to have them for the evening!
Thursday 20th April 2017 – Fish night with The Fish House. If you love fish and seafood then this is the event for you. A selection of fishy courses from the team at The Fish House in Ludlow matched with beers and ciders. No Sea Shanty singers this time though!
Thursday 11th May 2017 – Charcuterie night with Will from Shropshire Salumi. Based in north Shropshire, Will is passionate about his craft and cures local Gloucester Old Spot pork with local additions including our Manor Ale. Will will talk us through the process and his nose to tail ethos as we match beers and ciders to his Salumi. The evening will finish with a main course made using his fayre.
Thursday 13th July 2017 – BBQ night with Smokin Salop. Joe and his Shrewsbury based BBQ team have competed successfully all over the world. Their American style BBQ involves low and slow smoking big hunks of meat such as pork shoulders and beef briskets on the BBQ for 10 hours or more! They also make a mean burger.
Thursday 28th September 2017 – Oktoberfest at Hobsons. Basically this is just an excuse for us to buy loads of sausages from Shropshire's best butchers and cook them up served with pickles and beer. You then get to vote for your favourite one!
Thursday 19th October 2017 – Duck Night with Bakewell Ducks. Debbie and James have been farming Barbary ducks at Charlton Farm in Hartlebury since 1998. Debbie also happens to be a Food Technologist so is a great cook. Join us for a delicious duck inspired menu.
Thursday 9th November 2017 – Curry night with Previns. Niraj and his family specialise in traditional authentic home made indian spice kits for you to use in the comfort of your own home. Here they will do all the cooking for you and it really is not to be missed.
Sunday 19th November 2017 - Stir up Sunday - 11am and 2pm Sessions
We are organising another special MASS Stir up Sunday! We provide the ingredients, plus some Hobsons Postman's Knock to create a scrumptious pud, we just need your help to make it and give it a stir! A family event getting everyone involved in the traditional of making the Christmas pudding, you just need to bring a wooden spoon and apron.
The cost to take part is £5.00 for adults and £2.50 for children (4-16yrs), plus the option to take home your mixture in a special pudding bowl made by Wenlock Pottery - small £10.00, large £15.00.Ticket price includes refreshments and mince pies.
