Champion Beer of Britain 2007
On the 7th August 2007 Hobsons Brewery was presented with the most prestigious award in the industry - Hobsons Mild was named Champion Beer of Britain at the 30th Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court. Hobsons Mild was judged to be the best beer in Britain by a panel of brewers, beer writers and journalists, from over fifty finalists in eight categories including beers from tiny micros to major regional brewers. Roger Protz, one of the finalist judges and Editor of the Good Beer Guide said: "It's a great victory for a traditional British beer. It's bursting with flavour and, unusually for a Mild, it's got plenty of hop character. "It's great to see a classic copper coloured beer take the top award."
SIBA Best Green Business and Overall Winner 2010
Hobsons picked up the Best Green Business Award and the Best Overall Business Award at the 2010 SIBA Awards ceremony. Judges praised Hobsons Brewery for its exceptional attitude towards sustainable technologies, quality and the culture of local brewing to take the top award.
CAMRA West Midlands Beers of the Year 2012
Hobsons took the champion title in the Bitter Category with its original brew "Best Bitter", a fantastic accolade for a beer brewed some 25 years ago as Hobsons first brew.
CAMRA West Midlands Bottled Beers of the Year 2018
2018 was a great year for our bottled beers. Hobsons beers secured gold and silver awards in the 'real ale in a bottle light category'; Old Prickly secured the gold and Town Crier received the silver award. Our rich auburn ale, Old Henry, received a gold award for 'real ale in a bottle dark category' too.
International Beer Challenge
We're chuffed to have gained recognition on the international stage, with both Shropshire Stout (2015) and Old Prickly (2016) collecting bronze medals in the International Beer Challenge.
Great Taste Awards
2014 - Hobsons Old Prickly was awarded a one star award, judges comments were - Bright and pleasantly aromatic. Quite carbonated, but with balancing body and pronounced maltiness. A straightforward, traditional pale ale with good length. Pleasing.
2011 - Old Henry collected a two star Great Taste award along with Town Crier which picked up a one star.
